Streets Report Update A Short Summary of Rescue Rochester Ministry Activities-UPDATED APRIL 2nd
Strong/Golisano Childrens Hospital- It is a usual occurance while we are holding our educational picket at this "revered" hospital and university medical center. "They do abortions here!?" It is hard to fathom that a hospital and teaching medical center will allow the abortionist within its walls to kill the same age child that other doctors are heroically laboring to save in aother area of the hospital. Just this past week we were able to pray with a mom whose son was in PICU, The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She was taking a break outside on the sidewalk where our picket was occuring. The love of Jesus was shared and we prayed together for her son. The next week a young man was outside having a smoke. He was hooked up to his IV and declaring that he is a fighter and will never give into the sickness that was ravaging his body. We asked if we could pray for him and our daughter began to pray and ask the Lord to bless him. The opportunities to witness and to minister are always present. Strong is a behemoth. Now the largest employer in the Rochester area and a sponge that sucks up millions of dollars of NYS funds. Strong embraces the abortion mindset, has euthanasia advocates on the medical staff and seeks to pioneer embronic stem cell research in its state of the art Medical Research Wing.
Yet each outreach we hold at this hospital we receive encouragement to continue standing in the gap by passersby and staff.
Highland Hospital - Highland Hospital now belongs to the Strong Health Care medical juggernaut. Rescue Rochester has a presence their 2-3 times per week. This hospital sits across from an elementary school on South Avenue. Word has come to us that the 5th floor/3rd floor abortion mill is now gone. Yet some of the area abortionists use this address as their home. For about a month staff would come out as we would Jericho walk around this hospital and make sure we knew that the clinic was gone. When asked how she knew this, one nurse stated, a voice in my head told me. :) We continue to patrol this hospital with signs and literature and a vocal witness waiting for further confirmation that these rumors are actually true.
Our sense is that this hospital may have removed the clinic for space reasons, but it has not yet returned to a pro-life ethic. So we continue to picket, proclaim and pray.
Dr. Morris Wortman’s Abortion Clinic – Located in the prosperous Rochester suburb of Brighton, New York the beautifully landscaped grounds and the modern and inviting building belay the killing of the innocent children that occurs inside. Often we see Dr. Wortman, sometimes he nods, often he asks us to remove the few signs we display on a public strip of grass. Rescue Rochester has a weekly presence here.
Recently we have had some conversations with moms and dads and those entering this death center for pregnancy tests. One young couple were releived to find out that they were not pregnant. The young man took some literature from us and confessed that he did attend church occasionally. This open a door to witness and pray with this couple.
Over the years we have become familiar with Dr. Wortman, his wife Rebecca, and clinic workers. Some have opted to change employment. Mrs. B as we called her would always laugh at our comments and at time we had interesting conversations. She has since picked another line of work. We have heard reports of ambulances picking up patients in distress and know of women who are unable to have children after their abortion. Glenna Jean was one woman who died from complications of her abortion.
Continue to pray for this man that he would turn completely toward the Lord in repentance and be convereted just as John Newton the infamous slave trader was brought from death to life. And in testimony gave us the hymn, "Amazing Grace."
Medical Center on Lattimore Road – This medical center is located three blocks from The Strong/Golisano Children’s Hospital. It houses numerous pediatricians and family practices but also is used an abortion providing facility. Recently, Trinity Communion Church held a Easter Saturday Gathering to Prayer Service at this location. Spiritual warfare and intercession was offered up for the abortionists, the mothers and fathers and our community that the sin of bloodguilt would be lifted from our land. It was so encouraging to see a local church embrace the call to be pro-life yet to DO something with that belief. To gather as believers and stand in the gap were the killing is occuring.
