Jim Pouillon Memorial Outreach in Rochester, New York

Rescue Rochester participated in a national pro-life outreach to honor the memory and ministry of a Christian grand father Jim Pouillon who was gunned down while ministering the gospel and holding a pro-life sign outside a high school in Owasso, Michigan September 11, 2009. This act of violence against a pro-life Christian was largely ignored by the national press. Compare the response and coverage of Jim's murder to the press and our government's reaction given to abortionist George Tiller's murder a few weeks previous.

Jim lived out God’s love for unborn babies every day of his life for the past twenty years.  He often said, “I am doing for the babies what my Lord did for me.”  Everyone in Owosso had seen him with his graphic signs.  In Rochester, New York, Rescue Rochester gathered at East High School as school began and distributed leaflets that told the truth about, Jesus, Thanksgiving and Abortion. The Lord Jesus honored His Word and was present with George, Libby, Jerry, Sarah Jo and Mike. Shortly after arriving on the public sidewalk the school administration tried to have us removed and cautioned us not to give any items to students unless they requested. We assured the school officials that we understood our First Amendment rights even if they did not and that we would act accordingly.

Sarah Jo and Mike had an enlightening talk with a young mother of a 2 year old and were able to encourage her decision for life and share the gospel with her. We also had an impromptu debate with a young professional who was offended at our presence. This black man stated that his Jesus was not the same as our Jesus; which as we talked, proved to be very true. He thought the school’s problem was gun control- we declared the real problem was self control. And that the school needed a visitation from Jesus. May God help us to follow Jim Pouillon’s example and do for the babies and the lost as Jesus did for us. Be bold and persistent is our witness for Jesus. We remain.
